The Florida Birding and Nature Festival is Coming!

Since 2016 this festival has been a can’t-miss event! The Florida Birding & Nature Festival aims to promote appreciation and conservation of Florida’s birds, its wildlife and their habitats through responsible nature-based tourism and public awareness.

After the storms in 2024, the festival planners decided to move the festival to the spring, coinciding with the spring migration and the birds' return, This year the festival will be held from April 9th through the 12th  at the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC) Suncoast Youth Conservation Center at 6650 Dickman Rd, Apollo Beach, FL.

Field trips and hikes will be held nearby at Lettuce Lake Conservation Park, Cockroach Bay Nature Preserve, Upper Tampa Bay Conservation Park, Blackwater CReek Nature Preserve, Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve, Fred and Ida Shultz Nature Preserve and many other wild locations throughout Hillsborough, Polk, Pinellas, Manatee, and Sarasota counties!

The festival is timed just right to coincide with the migration of more than 180 species of birds and features expert-led field and boating trips to the best wildlife sites in West Central Florida.

The festival will also offer two days of live seminars featuring talks on sharks, flamingos, habitat restoration, sea turtles, butterflies, conservation art, oyster restoration, and more!

The Friday keynote speaker, Leslie Kim Poole, will speak about women's historic role in conservation in Florida, and laying the ground work for our current and future environmental fight.

On Saturday, Dr Hilary Fowler will give a talk about snail kites; their decline and surprising comeback from near-extinction, and what it means for conservation in Florida.

The Nature Expo on Friday and Saturday will feature booths and displays from numerous environmental organizations, nature-related businesses and artists. Exhibitors will offer for sale artwork, binoculars, bird boxes and other products for nature lovers. The expo is free to attend!
