Announcing the NEW Hillsborough FL Nature Tours App!
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our Outreach team had an excellent idea to develop a set of audio tours that would help extend how we conduct passive recreation and outreach at our conservation parks and nature preserves. This idea quickly turned into a several month-long project in collaboration with many of our CELM staff members across the county to select sites and develop app language.
To date, there are 14 audio tours available at some of
our most popular sites including:
Nature Preserves
- Alafia River Corridor - South
- Apollo Beach
- Bahia Beach
- Bell Creek
- Blackwater Creek
- Golden Aster
- Lake Frances
- Lower Green Swamp
- Triple Creek
Conservation
Parks
- Alderman's Ford
- Edward Medard
- Lake Park
- Lettuce Lake
- Upper Tampa Bay
Signage is posted at each audio tour site and you can
scan a QR code to access the specific tour OR click the location you’re
planning to hike and download the audio tour before your arrival. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) highlights will be available at site kiosks to help you use this new recreation tool.
The app is also a great navigation tool, you can follow
along on the map while you hike just like when you download trail maps through
the Avenza app! Once the app is downloaded to your device the selected audio
tour will automatically play as you come to each stop. On both the Conservation
Parks and Nature Parks section of the app a map is available to help you select
your site and follow your selected tours.
We hope that our county residents and visitors will
enjoy the new app and provide feedback!
If you do not see a tour at a location near you, not
to worry, our outreach team is working on creating new audio tours soon.
The Hillsborough FL Nature Tours app is available for
the public to download on the Apple Store or Google Play Store today!
