Terrific Trail CATS!

Trail CATS workdays are scheduled on the second Saturday of each month. In July, the pounce prowled through Pebble Conservation Park, the new park in Riverview that will be opening soon. They came to clear and establish a trail for park visitors to enjoy.

Trail Bosses Daniel Allen & Joe Guidry remove a tree from the path
The group began their day at 8AM by trimming tree branches, removing overgrowth of saw palmettos and various bushes along the path. Some removed bags of Cesar's Weed and others used a hand saw to remove a small tree that lay across the trail. All in all it was a good productive day and the work was finished by around 10:45AM. It is true that many hands do lighten the load. The two CELM staff members were grateful to have a group of 20 join them for the task.

The new trail begins along a paved sidewalk which leads to a dirt path that winds through the woods and then returns to the paved walkway. The distance is only a half mile and can be enjoyed by most.

Special thanks to the Friends of the County Parks and Recreation Inc. Board Members for accepting the suggestion of Shane Richeson, Vice President, Swamp Mountain Bike Club Inc. to use the remaining funds from a project at Balm Boyette Nature Preserve to purchase lunch for the Trail CATS. It was a nice treat after participating in such a steamy workday. The Trail CATS were all grateful and thankful for your generosity.
